January is Walk Your Dog Month!

January is Walk Your Dog Month and what better way to kick start your New Years Resolutions by reading some great YA books that feature dogs?  If you are like me, you love dogs and want to spend more time with them because they just get you.  This awareness month is a great way to help dust off the January blues, read a few good books, maybe go out and adopt a new dog, or if you already have one start taking him/her out for more walks.  It's a fun way to get out of the house and your dog will love you for it! Here is a list of YA books that will have you begging for more! Last Chance by Norah McClintock In this charming YA novel by Norah McClintock, the main character Robyn is scared of dogs—like, really scared. But she agrees to spend her summer working at an animal shelter anyway. (It's a long story.) The Secret

Happy, Happy Birthday to the One and Only, Katie B!

Will and Tessa on deviantart by BKLH362
I have to admit that this is one of my very favorite things to do every year, and that's to sneak on here and wish our very own, Katie B, the happiest of birthdays.

Mundie Moms will turn 10 in 2019, and the mama at the helm of this mothership has never, ever wavered from her course. She has tirelessly worked to not only bring you the latest Cassie news, but also to bring you reviews, news and giveaways of the very latest young adult releases. She has grown Mundie Moms into two other sites -- Mundie Kids for children's and middle grade books and Grown-Up Book Reviews for new adult and adult reads. If you've seen her moderate an author panel at a book festival or convention, you are so lucky. She asks all the questions that true blue fans want to know. When she first started MMs, her author chats were so well attended that they sometimes crashed the servers! She's, above all else, a super fan of authors we all love.

But if you think her work ends with MMs, you are so wrong. She has been substitute teaching, working for her son's football team, helping run a PTA for a year or two or was it three? See, I lose sight of all the jobs she's juggling. That stamina rune that Jace applied must be super-powered! (quick aside: who wouldn't love a Jace-applied rune? ;) )

Outside of all these jobs and tasks, her first loves are her children and her husband. Watching how she cares for them and about them showcases how fiercely she loves her family. She's really a mom who does it all, and does it all beautifully.

I am in constant awe at how Katie foresees growing MMs. Go check out MM's instagram, because she's posting fun hauls, book reviews and mixing in some  thoughts on old favorites, similarly themed books and more bookwormish goodness. Once again, her magic touch is showing, and MMs is growing and changing.

Being part of Katie's MMs has been such a privilege. I get to work with an innovative, creative, tireless fangirl. We've chatted, late into the night or early in the morning, about everything from teen mood swings, aging parents and concerns over various minor and major upturns and downturns in life. We have fangirled over every Cassie character, argued the merits over Will vs. Jem (aside: the true answer is always Jem, by the way) and agreed that Magnus would be the best friend that every mama needs to know.

So here's to another year, Katie. Another trip around the sun. Another opportunity to have fun adventures with your family. Another twelve months of all out, full-on fangirling about the books we love. I know it will be an absolutely amazing one.

Please join me, Emmaly and Shandra in wishing our Katie the happiest of birthdays!!!! Happy, happy birthday, girl!!!!!

Book Review-The Pregnancy Project

THE PREGNANCY PROJECT By Gaby Rodriguez 218 Pages January 2012 Simon and Schuster Summary Taken from Goodreads: Growing up, Gaby Rodriguez was often told she would end up a teen mom. After all, her mother and her older sisters had gotten pregnant as teenagers; from an outsider’s perspective, it was practically a family tradition. Gaby had ambitions that didn’t include teen motherhood. But she wondered: how would she be treated if she “lived down” to others' expectations? Would everyone ignore the years she put into being a good student and see her as just another pregnant teen statistic with no future? These questions sparked Gaby’s school project: faking her own pregnancy as a high school senior to see how her family, friends, and community would react. What she learned changed her life forever, and made international headlines in the process. My Thoughts: I remember when this was all over the media a couple of years ago. HIGH SCHOOL GIRL FAKES PREGNANCY! It was a hot news topic a...
